The Christmas Market is an outdoor market which runs for about 4 weeks during Advent season. This week lots of the Christmas Markets in Germany have opened up, and the first one we visited was the Christmas Market in Mainz. This is my first time ever going to a German Christmas Market, its definitely a different experience. I would say its very traditional in a way that people gather to celebrate this tradition that has been going on since the 1400′s (and 1700′s for Mainz). There were tons of booths which were selling food (currywurst, bratwurst, spiessbraten, etc.), ornaments, chocolates, and gluhwein (hot wine). So, what did I end up getting? I got a currywurst mit pommes (sausage with fries), chocolates, Feuerzange bowle (traditional German wine drink), and goulash soup.

- Tip: To avoid the crowd, come during a weekday, watch out for gluhwein spills (since it is hot and can stain your clothing too)
