Isla Hayahay in Bohol

Isla Hayahay garden area

Isla Hayahay is located in Pangangan Island, one of the islands around Bohol, Philippines.  To get there from Manila, it takes about one and a half hour flight to reach to Tagbilaran (the nearest airport) and a car ride for about an hour to reach Isla Hayahay.  During the visit, we opted for Package B: 3 days 2 nights.  It included the accommodation, airport/port 2-way ride, full meal board, and activities (see below for photos).  It costs 7,500 PHP per person on twin sharing accommodation.  I think you pay 20% down in advance for the reservation and pay the rest when you reach the resort.

This resort is not a chic boutique luxury resort, it feels more like a country home resort, very relaxed and homely feel.  I picked this resort because of the price range and it got awesome reviews on Tripadvisor.com.  Since we were going to be out and about all day, this was the best choice to enjoy Bohol without breaking a wallet.

Island Living, enjoying the warm weather

The accommodation:

Duplex rooms with a private patio

Inside the room – AC, Double bed, bathroom

The room was really clean and cute too.  I like the simple design and layout.  There’s cable TV, AC, electric fan and there’s heated shower as well.

The Food:

The food at Islay Hayahay

Ok, I must say that I did enjoy the activities, loved the weather and had a great time in Isla Hayahay but the best part is … THE FOOD!  The food in Isla Hayahay is really delicious and the servings are plenty.  I kind of wanted to shake the chef’s hand since I loved every single food he/she cooked.  My most favorite one is the buttered shrimp.  I might want to go back there just for the food, yes its really good.

The Activities:

The activities for a 3 days, 2 nights in Bohol

On the first day of our arrival in Isla Hayahay (about an hour after lunch) we went snorkeling in the Pangangan Island.  Then, the next day, we had a private tour – there were 4 of us in the car and the driver took us around Bohol for the planned activities.  I liked every single activity except for the XZootic animal farm, the animals didn’t look too healthy, and it was smelly.

Verdict:  I highly recommend Isla Hayahay for those planning to go to Bohol and see the wonderful city.  I like the all-in-one package kind of deal so I didn’t have to worry about extra payments what-so-ever.  And the price is very affordable and definitely worth it.
