For all Square Enix fans out there, here comes Artnia – the official store, cafe and gallery located in Shinjuku. According to their website, it is called ‘Artnia’ from the words art, area, and near – an area that serves as a bridge between their goods and their customers. The Artnia has a very distinctive design, it is shaped like a white pill. Inside there are 3 sections – shop, cafe, and gallery.
Inside the Artnia Square Enix Store:
The shop contains many popularized Square Enix characters – like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, etc. Here you can buy different plush dolls, key chains, figurines, toys, and many others.
The gallery contains different character figurines, as well as special items for sale. It is decorated in an all black ceiling, floor and walls, with lighted diamond shaped windows. In the middle of the gallery, you will find a red crystal (ruby?) hanging from the top.
The cafe is a cafe/restaurant/bar that has a full menu of different entries. They serve hot and cold drinks, hot foods and desserts too. Many of the food have a theme based from the different Square Enix games.
When I visited Artnia, I wanted to try out their cafe since I enjoy going to themed-cafes and I am also a huge fan of Kingdom Hearts. So, I signed in to get a reservation for a table, and it only took about 10 minutes. I believe it gets busy on certain days, but I think I was quite lucky during my visit. The waitress was really cool and friendly, she was really fashionable too. The food and drinks were delicious and tasty! I highly recommend this cafe even if you don’t know much about Square Enix, the food and atmosphere are good. Also, I noticed there are tons of young women that visit this place, and they love collecting the pins from the vending machine.
