Eating Black Forest Cake in Black Forest, Germany

Home made special Black Forest cake

Home made special Black Forest cake

One of my main reasons for visiting Triberg, a town in the Black Forest in Germany was to try out their special Black Forest cake.  Apparently, the original recipe is still made from this town at Cafe Schaefer.  When I visited the shop was closed however, they have other cafes that offered home made black forest cakes.

And I ended up going to this cute cafe near the waterfalls (forgot the name).  They were selling a slice of the cake for 3.50 euros.

This cake caught me by surprise, it had cherry liquor – the one I had a while back didn’t have it so it was quite different having to taste the original recipe.

Have you ever tried the Black Forest cake?

The cafe looks so lovely. It’s surely the perfect place for eating black forest cake! Mmmm… I’ll try using cherry liquor the next time I bake a black forest cake. I should be able to make a cake that is as good as the one in that cafe in Germany. 😉
