The great Aletsch glacier in Switzerland is one of the most magnificent natural scenes. It has a length of 23 Kilometers, and is considered to be the largest glacier in the Alps. It was also included in the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2001.
There are a couple of ways to reach the Aletsch glacier – hike, train, and cable car. My family and I took the train half way, then took the cable car to reach the top (glacier). The other way was a cable car going up, but the line was too long (about 1 hour wait).
While it was a bit warm at the bottom of the mountain, once we reached the top it was definitely cold even on summer time. So, when you go there don’t forget to bring your jacket.
