This past Thanksgiving I went back to visit my family in Maryland, its been almost a year since I have last seen them (I moved to Germany December 2011). As soon as I landed in the DMV area, my brother picked me up and took me to Honey pig in Ellicott City. If you have been following my blog for quite a while, you know how much I love Korean food – and Honey pig is definitely my first favorite restaurant. I know its quite ironic going back to the States to eat Korean food, but I love this place.
Korean traditional food consists of side dishes – kimchi, pickled veggies, potato salad, soup etc. It is quite a hearty meal – and its not expensive. An order of BBQ meat is around $15 but if you prefer a much fancier meat like beef Galbi its about $25. In the U.S. Korean BBQ restaurants they usually cook the meat for you – and they distribute the meat evenly on your plates when its done. When eating Korean BBQ at a restaurant, remember that it is meant to be shared (but you don’t have to if you want). What my family and I usually do is, we each get our favorites, and then we just split the food whichever gets cooked first and we share our favorites with everyone.
