Life in a day: a trip to Triberg im Schwarzwald (Black Forest) August 2013

In the middle of the Black Forest in Germany, there’s a town called Triberg im Schwarzwald (or Triberg for short).  This town is popular for its world’s biggest cuckoo clock, largest waterfalls in Germany, the Black Forest museum and the Black Forest cake.  I decided to go and visit this town since it was only a short drive from where I live.  The town is very cute, lots of colorful buildings, handmade wooden items and small cafes.

To get into the waterfalls the admission fee was 3 euros.  There are 3 hiking trails to choose from depending on how long you would like to hike – 0.75 hour, 1 hour, or 1.5 hours.  I opted for the shortest time so I can just see the waterfalls.  There are also small playground for kids inside the trail.

After all the waterfalls hiking, my main reason for visiting was to try out their Black Forest cake!  I haven’t had one in a while.  From what I remembered, the last Black Forest I have had was in the Philippines.  To my surprise, I didn’t realize that the Black Forest cake actually have cherry liquor, but I must say it tasted really good.  And yes, the Black Forest cake originated from this town in Germany.
