Sintra is a town in Portugal that has a romantic architecture and beautiful landscapes. This town has become one of the tourist destination outside of Lisbon. It takes about 40 minutes from Lisbon to Sintra by train, and upon arrival at Sintra station you can go see the Info desk about different things you can do around the area. Since its a tourist destination, of course they speak English which is very helpful. Sintra is known for its castles, estates, buildings such as Castelo dos Mouros, Pena National Palace and Sintra National Palace. I got a chance to see all of those cool castles, palaces and estates because of the Sight Sintra – electric car rental (check out my previous post here).
Located at the hill top of Sintra, this Castle is known to be a national monument. One of my favorite castles I have ever visited actually, it has panoramic views and the structure is grand.
After the trip to Mouros Palace, we went to the Pena Castle.
A very delicious and healthy lunch at Restaurante Da Pena, this was at the Pena Castle. The prices weren’t that expensive and the portions were good.
Before leaving Sintra, we decided to go shopping and check out some souvenirs too.
When you visit Lisbon, don’t forget to see Sintra as well. It is such an amazing town filled with beautiful castles, palaces and estates that you do not want to miss. I indeed had a great time just walking around and learning more about Portugal’s history.
