Heidelberg has always been on my list of cities to visit in Germany ever since I read one of the ‘Germany Day Trip’ guidebooks. The photos on the guidebook especially the old bridge attracted me to see this charming city. And I wasn’t disappointed, this city is indeed much more beautiful than the photos I have seen. Visiting this city felt like going back in time during the late Renaissance period.
When I got there I noticed that this city was filled with tourist, I mean lots and lots of tourist, mostly from Asia. It might be that Heidelberg is becoming one of the top tourist attractions in Germany.
For lunch I ate at one of the restaurants near the church (sorry forgot the name but its at the green umbrella). I got apfel schorle (apple juice and sparkling water mixed together) and pizza. The prices were reasonable about 3 euros for the drink and 7 euros for the pizza.
The main attraction (in my opinion) is definitely the castle. There are some parts of the castle that were damaged by wars and fires through out the middle ages. However, this castle is a famous landmark of Heidelberg.
Have you been to Heidelberg? Or have you been to any castles?
