Sanrio Puroland is an indoor theme park that’s all about Sanrio characters. It is located in Tama New Town, Tokyo (about 30 minutes away by train from Shinjuku). Each year, the Sanrio Puroland theme park attracts over 1.5 million visitors.
My Adventure at Sanrio Puroland:
At last, I have finally visited the Sanrio Puroland. It is definitely a Hello Kitty dreamland, it’s filled with tons of Hello Kitty and other adorable Sanrio characters (but mostly Hello Kitty, yay). During my visit it was actually a rainy day, but fortunately this theme park is indoors. So, it’s a great place to visit during rainy days too.
I got the ticket on a sort-of discount normally 3800 Yen to 3600 Yen (-200 Yen off). I found the voucher near the info desk at my hotel at Shibuya Tokyu Inn.
When I entered the theme park, I wasn’t quite sure what to do. So I went to see the information booth for the theme park guide. The theme park is divided into 4 Floors with attractions, shopping, and food. To make it easier, I’m going to discuss the different floors starting from 1st floor.
The 4 Floors at Sanrio Puroland:
At the first floor you can find the ‘main event’ where there is a performance show (singing, dancing) near the wisdom tree. As well as the My Melody & Kuromi – Mymeroad Drive.
Attractions & Amusement: Marchen Theater, Entertainment Hall, Fairyland Theater, Discovery Theater,
My Melody & Kuromi – Mymeroad Drive, Silhouette Art, Wisdom Tree.
Shopping: My Melody Shop, Jewelland Gate, Entertainment Hall Shop
Food: Character Food Court, Sweet Parlor
The second floor’s main attractions are Sanrio Character Boat Ride and Lady Kitty House.
Attractions & Amusement: Sanrio Character Boat Ride, Strawberry Hall, Kiki & Lala – Twinklingtour, Lady Kitty House, My Melody in Akazukin.
Shopping: Kiki & Lala Shop, Lady Kitty House Shop
Actually when you first enter Sanrio Puroland, that’s the 3rd floor level. You can find the Entrance Shop which is the largest shop in Sanrio Puroland. The information desk and lockers are at this floor.
Attractions & Amusement: Marchen-Koubou
Shopping: Entrance Shop (largest shop in Puroland)
I would say that the fourth floor is mostly food places and game machines (like UFO catchers). I had lunch at the Food Machine Restaurant and got the Hello Kitty bento for 1200 Yen(?).
Attractions & Amusement: Portrait Corner, Sanrio WakuWaku Plaza
Food: Restaurant Yakata, Cinnamon Dream Cafe, Food Machine Restaurant
Fun tip: Visit the top section of the Wisdom Tree, you will find a shrine with a bell, where you can make a wish.
Recommended Attractions: My Melody & Kuromi – Mymeroad Drive, Sanrio Character Boad Ride, Kiki & Lala Twinklingtour and Lady Kitty House.
FYI: On some attractions, you pay extra fee.
Discount: There are vouchers around Tokyo (like in Hello Kitty Stores) or hotels that have discounts to visit the Sanrio Puroland park.
