Shinjuku Marui One Guide – How do I get there?

Entrance door to Marui One

As I told my Japanese friends that I was going to Shinjuku Marui One by myself, they got a bit worried because Shinjuku station is a very busy metro station with over 200 exits (they couldn’t go with me since they had work during that time) but I decided to do a bit of research before I went there and I would like to share it with anyone who wants to go to Shinjuku Marui One without the hassle (see end of post for info).

Think of Shinjuku Marui One similar to Harajuku but shops are in a department store settings with 8 floors.  Each floor is divided into different categories 1 – Tokyo Pop (fashion accessories) 2 – Shoes and Zakka (accessories) 3 – Princess wear 4 – New Japanese Modern 5 – Gothic & Classic 6 – Punk & Rock 7 – Lolita 8 – Visual Kei.

When I went there, there weren’t that much people shopping maybe because it was a workday – but it is still less crowded compared to Harajuku.  And now onto the photos:

How to get to Marui One Shinjuku?

– There are 5 lines in the JR train you can take to get to Shinjuku station – Yamanote, Chuo Line Rapid, Chuo Line Sobu, Saikyo Line, and Shonan-Shinjuku Line.  I usually take the Yamanote line (green) since it goes to Harajuku and Shibuya as well for easy transfers.

– It takes about 5 minute walk to get to Marui One from the Shinjuku Station East exit.

– At the Shinjuku Station – take the EAST exit.  Please remember there are over 200 exits – so this guide I’m making is for the EAST exit.

– At the EAST exit, you will be coming out next to a Starbucks.  You will then see in front of you a STUDIO ALTA building and Mizuho Building.

– Look to your right, you will see the SAKURAYA building in red banner, go in that direction (Shinjuku Dori street).

– You will have to pass 3 blocks  prior to seeing Marui One (pass Louis Vuitton and the 0101 Honkan store).

– After you cross the third block, the building in front of you is the Marui One department store.

I hope you find this post informative and helpful.  Have a great day!
