Lake Como or Lago di Como in Italian, is the third largest lake in Italy. This lake is also considered as one of the most beautiful lake in Europe. Another main reason why this lake is popular is that many famous celebrities live in area (George Clooney, Madonna, Versace, etc.).
So, what are the things to do in Lake Como?
Take the ferry
If you want to see the different villages in Lake Como, taking the ferry is the best option for transportation. It’s much faster and a more relaxed way of seeing the lake. You can find the timetable and location of stops on this website: Navigazionelaghi.it
Visit the village of Lenno
Lenno is a small village located on the northwest side of Lake Como. There’s a beautiful boardwalk where you can stroll and check out the different restaurants and cafes. Also, the biggest attraction in this village is Villa del Balbianello. This villa is located at the tip of the peninsula and famous for its exquisite garden. A couple of films have been shot on this villa including Star Wars Episode II and Casino Royale.
Bellagio has a beautiful panoramic view of the lake. Lake Como has a Y shape – and Bellagio is located at the center where the three intersects. Personally, Bellagio is my favorite place, I love the atmosphere and I had a fun time shopping. I got a beautiful silk scarf at one of the shops for 35 euros.
Rent a motorboat
Taking the ferry is a good option for seeing the villages in Lake Como, however if you want to travel more independently and see more of the lake, renting a motorboat is the way to go. There are a couple of rental places around the villages. The prices are reasonable around 115 euros for 2 hours. It can fit up to 6-7 people.
