For both of our birthdays this year, Mr. and I decided to visit two cities in Turkey. Our first stop was in Istanbul, afterwards we visited Antalya for 4 days. Antalya is located at the Mediterranean south-western coast of Turkey. It was our first time visiting Antalya, and since it was a resort town, it was the perfect getaway for a relaxing trip.
It takes about an hour flight from Istanbul to reach Antalya. From the airport we took the metro to get to our hotel which is located at the old city. My first impression of Antalya: It’s a mixture of Istanbul city with a resort atmosphere (boat docks, beaches), and less people.
Where we stayed?
We stayed at this hotel called ‘Tuvana Hotel’. It’s a charming boutique hotel that has an Ottoman theme decoration. There are restaurants in the hotel, as well as other restaurants nearby.
What we did?
There are so many things to see and do around Antalya. Since we wanted to have a very relaxing vacation, we decided not to go to the famous landmarks. Instead we just toured around the old town. We had lunch overlooking the beach coast, visited the Toy Museum, and shopping at old town and Mark Antalya mall.
What we ate?
The Tuvana Hotel had breakfast included, so for lunch and dinner we went around town to find interesting restaurants to eat. We also tried the hotel restaurant ‘Il Vicino Pizzeria’, they serve Italian food – we got pizza and different types of bruschetta. Here are some food photos we had during our stay:
Conclusion: I had a great time in Antalya, I highly recommend people to visit this city. It has a historical and resort town appeal. Also, don’t forget to try out the local food in this city as well. I think Turkish food is on top 3 favorite foods ever.
